Cross Browser MooTools Syntax Highliter

Development Programming

Lighter.js is a free syntax highlighting class developed with MooTools. It was created with the MooTools developer in mind and takes advantage of many of the Framework’s features. Using it can be as simple as adding a single script to your webpage, selecting the elements you wish to highlight, and Lighter.js takes care of the rest.

Features:

  • Written in MooTools. Requires version 1.2.1
  • Easy to use with familiar MooTools syntax.
  • Outputs in various formats like ordered lists and tables. Choose the method that works best for you.
  • Unique JavaScript based stylesheet creation. Or, set an option and you can use stylesheets the good old way.
  • GeSHi-like class naming for (hopeful) style interoperability.
  • Extensible language and themeing engines.
  • Quirky Lighter analogies included with every download.

Tested in Safari 2+, Internet Explorer 6+, Firefox 2+ & Opera 9+. Has many options for customizations.

Wow, this looks great! Unfortunately I stumbled over this while looking for other mootools snippets, and dont have time to spend on it right now, but I downloaded it and will get back to it when I have a moment. I’d like to add lsl (Linden Scripting Language) to it for my web site (which Im still building – it will be open soonish :)
